If you’re feeling as if participatory democracy is as frustrating and never-ending as bleak mid-winter, perhaps Phil (Bill Murray character) in the movie, Groundhog Day, speaks for you when he says: ”When Chekhov saw the long winter, he saw a winter bleak and dark and bereft of hope.”
Participation is the way to end your bleak outlook and enrich our democratic process to boot! However exasperated you are by the media circus that has become de rigeur during campaign coverage, don’t allow your frustration to derail or deny your democratic rights and privileges. Participation is the energy source to thaw your hardened political sensibilities.
Phil continues, “Yet we know that winter is just another step in the cycle of life. But standing here among the people of Punxsutawney and basking in the warmth of their hearths and hearts, I couldn’t imagine a better fate than a long and lustrous winter.” Come warm up in the camaraderie, conversation, and cheer with your fellow Dems. We need you, your thoughts, your passion, your participation!

DPVA Jefferson-Jackson Dinner
The next quarterly meetings of the Democratic Party of Virginia will be on February 10-11, 2012 at the Richmond Marriott Hotel. On this weekend, we will feature our Jefferson - Jackson Dinner at the Greater Richmond Convention Center on Saturday evening. The weekend will be fun filled with many opportunities to reunite with Democrats from all across the Commonwealth.
On Saturday, January 14, 2012 2:00 PM - 4:00 will be an event which will bring volunteers together, plan for the campaign, and just get to know one another. We will have a great time kicking off 2012, as we take our first steps to ensuring President Obama’s reelection!
